Monitor Digital

Last november 2008, I was invited to participate as digital artist in the festival Monitor Digital, in Guadalajara. This festival was the first of its kind, featuring digital art as a main topic in the exhibition. I exhibited these two images.
The first is a photo of my sister and the second is an illustration of Siouxsie Sioux.

Energy in Female Sessions

Our video Enery v.09 for Isis Signum and Sara Noxx, was nominated to the Female Sessions Award 2009.
Female Sessions is an event and an organization that has the aim to recognize talented women in the field of film and video creation. We are very happy about this, and very happy too because the video will be projected today at LARVA (a big venue for art and music here in Guadalajara).

Películas de Muestra

The FICG 2009 it´s over.. and we will miss it.. but this time I could see some very wonderful films, and some other not that much.
Here are the names:

Shortfilms. A selection of mexican shortfilms. The one I like the most was De como los niños pueden volar, an watercolor animation with music from Alfredo Sanchez and Lila Downs.








The guitar. Opera prima from Robert Redford´s daughter, Amy Redford. A film about the power of music. Excellent.








Grizzi Sikniss. A documentary about a strange disease that only occurs to the Miskito people in Nicaragua. It started good but it was just redundant and not really deep.

Splinterheads. A film shoted in the marvelous Red One Camera.

Kautokeino opprøret. I have been fascinated by scandivian and northern cultures for a while, a long while.. and this is a very beautiful film full of some of the things I love from those cultures: the language (swedish, sami, norwegian), snow, reindeers, snowed dunes, snowstorms and vodka. It is a film about an historical moment in the Sami history, a story about represion and revolution, a story about the domination of the catholic church and the way it smashed and kills other ways of thinking and feeling the nature, a story that has been repeated too many times and in very cruel ways.

The Darjeeling Limited

I really wanted to see this film for a long time, and this weekend, we were with a couple of friends at home and decided to go to the movies to see Slumdog Millionaire.. but all the rooms were full packed and we decided to go to Video Diversión to rent a movie.. and we choose The Darjeeling Limited.. with Owen Wilson, a great Adrien Brody, with a very à-la-Brit-pop-singer look, and another actor a little less well known, Jason Schwartzman. Also Anjelica Houston and Bill Murray appear here.

With The Darjeeling Limited, I reaffirm my love for Wes Anderson movies. The aesthetic, the story, the actors, the colors.. the funeral scene.. the train.. everything is amazing.
And, as usual in Wes Anderson movies, the soundtrack it´s delightful.. The Kinks, Rolling Stones, Joe Dassin, hindu music, etc..
And I want to visit India!! I envy you Itzi and Anders ... you should take me with you!!..

The Happiest Girl

I´m the happiest girl in the world..
Y todo por que hoy desperté y escuché el primer sencillo de mi grupo favorito del mundo y de la vida: Depeche Mode.

La obsesión y la devoción han comenzado de nuevo... 10 años ya han pasado desde que en abril de 1999 organizamos un tributo a Depeche Mode en mi rancho natal, al cual creiamos que nadie asistiría y ahora se ha convertido en un evento memorable para los fans (que yo creía pocos) pero salieron de todos lados.
10 años han pasado también desde que conocí a mis devotos favoritos..

Y más de 10 años desde que, buscando fans de Depeche Mode en el chat del Mirc desde una ciudad tamaulipeca, encontré a KimberlyClark (PyBy), quien se ha convertido en mi segunda madre y mi gran amiga.

Y en un noviembre de 1998 una pequeña quinceñera escuchaba a Depeche apagando las velitas de su pastel de XV, sin vals, ni chambelanes, ni vestido de crinolina... pero con dos amigos y hermanos, gracias Maurrissey, gracias A. Depeche. :)

Gracias por el mejor regalo... un disco nuevo. Y gracias a todas las personas que he conocido por esta devoción. Gracias por ser parte de la música y de mi vida.

Movies I´ve seen in the last couple of weeks

1. I´m Not There from Todd Haynes.. The multiple lifes of Bob Dylan. Great movie, full of Haynedian moments.. it reminds me to Velvet Goldmine in a lot of senses including actors, camera angles, edition, colours, dialogues.. a must for music lovers. And Cate Blanchete.. divine as always.




2. Van Helsing.. I must say I was expecting much more from this movie.. I fell sleep in the middle of it..

3. Coraline. Amazing stop motion film.. It took almost three years to finnish it and I can see why. They use around 15,000 different face expressions for each character, First they made it in 3d and then print in resin. It is a handcraft masterpiece. And I want to have a garden and blue hair, just like Coraline has.

2005: I had the pleasure to direct what it was my first music video for my friend Helder and his project Isis Signum with german singer Sara Noxx in vocals.
2008: Helder asked me to do a remix of the video because Prusia Records will release an special DVD and they want to include this video in it.
I did this in a couple of days and we are very happy with the results. Hope you like it too.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Yesterday I went to see this film.. and I am amazed.. It is, by far, one of the best films I have ever seen in a long time. Some films I say: ok, it has a good photo, or the art is amazing, or the story is great.. but this.. this is all in on film, it is so round that leaves nothing out..

Everything is marvelous. The photography, the actors, the art, everything!...
Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchet are amazing here, and I was also surprised by the appeareance of one of the actress that I consider as one of the best these days: Tilda Swinton... that woman has a face that looks like out of this world, I love her strangeness.

It is also one of those stories that really makes you think and changes your perspective of life, and I love that in a film. It sees the life, death and loneliness in an unique way, and all of this, thanks to the vision of mr. Scott Fitzgerald and the adaptation of David Fincher.

Hufelandstrasse

I found this picture of the place we called our home in Prenzlauerberg, Berlin. A beautiful eastern house. The film Das Leben den Anderen happens in this street in a house like this. It was like living in a dream, and in a film... I miss that place.. I miss Berlin.

The Assasination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford

Amazing photography. Full of smoke, backlights, dust and mist.
Music.. by the great Nick Cave.. and it has a surprise.
Brad Pitt is one of the best Hollywood actors. More than being handsome and a 90s girl magazine popstar, he is now more mature and has incredible histrionic qualities.
Excelent film.

Stagnant pool

Trabajando.. a las 12:07 am.. esperando un render.. pero tomándome una cerveza y escuchando a Felt, un grupo inglés, maravilloso. Mi amigo Rod me pasó la canción de Stagnant Pool y me atraparon con su voz y sus guitarras. Muy a la Robien Guthrie o a la Chameleons, pero como algo que nunca habia oído antes. Hipnótico.

Inspirada por la conferencia de la musica britanica impartida por Paul West y Paula Benson de Form UK, en el Tec, recorde una foto que tome en nuestro pasado viaje a Europa, en la estacion de metro en Sol, Madrid.

Re:accion

Estos son los bocetos que hice ayer en el taller de FORM.

Hoy, todo el día, estuve en un taller maravilloso llamado Picture a Sound. Lo impartieron Paula Benson y Paul del estudio Form de Inglaterra. Este etsudio ha hecho portadas de discos para nada más y nada menos que Depeche Mode (el disco y los singles del Exciter) Everything but the Girl, Scritti Politti, Coil, Aqua, etc.. etc..
Primero presentaron su trabajo, sus experiencias con los grupos, como les surgen las ideas y la inspiración, cuales han sido las mejores experiencias, etc. Uno de mis sueños es trabajar alguna vez en un diseño para Depeche Mode, o en un video, y esto, fue increíble, conocerlos y saber de primera mano esa información, fue un gran paso para mí.
En el taller nos enseñaron a crear un diseño de un disco a partir de una idea. En este caso fue hacer una portada de un disco llamado ReAccion. Empezamos con ideas, conceptos y ya después el desarrollo de la idea. La mayoría de los tarbajos estuvieron excelentes muy buena calidad, y aprendimos muchísimo.
Mañana miércoles estos mismos chavos van a dar otra conferencia en el tec, llamada No more heroes. Para todos los fans del diseño y/o la música, es imperdible, porque van a escuchar las experiencias de primera mano, de uno de los estudios que le ha dado identidad e imagen a la música británica.

Primer entrada.. y contando

Hace como dos años empecé mi blog. Pero como muchas cosas, nunca pude mantenerlo actualizado. De repente quiero hacer tantas cosas, pero el día sigue teniendo solo 24 horas, y debo dormir aunque sea un poco, y repsirar aire fresco y despegarme de esta computadora.
